Cahokia Mounds Historic Border, HDV, 22’, 2009

The division of space, although it can work on paper, generates social and ethical issues in real life. The historic site of Cahokia Mounds, Illinois—the first example of landscape design in the USA and later a place of clashes between cultures—today presents an overlapping of spaces: historical, religious, psychological, mythological, political. The film starts from the mysterious charm of this landscape to eventually raise questions about how societies utilize material and invisible boundaries to determine themselves.
